In Academic Year 1994-95, the College of Arts and Sciences established an Outstanding Scholar Award. In May 1998, this award was renamed the Donald W. Sink Outstanding Scholar Award. Full-time Arts and Sciences faculty (including emeritus/a) with at least two full years' employment at ASU are eligible for nomination. The Donald W. Sink Outstanding Scholar Award winner shall receive $1,000 to be applied toward research equipment and supplies, summer research salary (pending availability), and/or research-related travel expenses, as well as a certificate and medallion presented at the Fall Faculty Awards Ceremony. All Arts and Sciences faculty (including emeritus/a) are eligible to submit written nominations (excluding self-nominations and nominations of relatives and domestic partners). Nominations will also be accepted from outside experts in relevant fields. Each nomination should address the following points: 1. Nominator's relationship to the nominee and the extent of knowledge of the nominee's scholarly workAll nominees will be notified in writing by the Award Committee and asked to submit supporting materials. These materials will be returned to the faculty member after the Outstanding Scholar Award has been presented. The Committee, which is composed of five Arts & Sciences faculty, will evaluate each nominee's material according to criteria developed by the College. One nominee will be named the Donald W. Sink Outstanding Scholar of the Year and the committee may give honorable mention to up to three others.
