Part-time Teaching Excellence Award
|
During the Fall Awards Ceremony and Reception, the College will present
the Part-Time Teaching Excellence Award to honor outstanding teaching
by a part-time faculty member in the College.
Eligibility:
· Part-time status - teaching fewer than 12 hours
· Taught at Appalachian at least three consecutive semesters (permits one year of documentation)
· Currently teaching one or more courses (not as graduate student or full-time temporary appointment)
Criteria:
· Has exhibited knowledge of, and enthusiasm for, the
subject matter
· Has shown exceptional concern for student success
· Has demonstrated active interest in department/university
issues
Nominations:
· Any faculty or staff member in the College can submit a
nomination
· Any Appalachian State student can submit a nomination as
long as nomination is not submitted while attending a class taught
by the nominee
· Nominees will be notified to submit a current vita; student
evaluations; and peer or chair reviews
· Use the above criteria to discuss in your nomination why
you feel the nominee deserves this award

This is an excellent opportunity to recognize our part-time faculty, many of whom
have spent numerous semesters, or even years, of dedicated teaching.
The recipient will receive a certificate, medallion, and $500.00 for professional
development. Please take the time to send a nomination so the College
can recognize their service.
