Description of duties, responsibilities and qualifications:

The Department of Biology at Appalachian State University (http://www.biology.appstate.edu) seeks to fill a tenure-track position in science education at the Assistant Professor rank. We seek a teacher-scholar who will combine excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching with an active research program. Applicants must possess advanced degrees in both science education (or related field) and a science discipline, significant K – 12 science teaching experience, and demonstrated potential for both scholarship and service in science education.

Responsibilities include teaching elementary and secondary science “methods” courses, science content courses for elementary education; supervising secondary science field experiences; participating in the development of a Masters degree program for secondary science teacher licensure; and seeking extramural funding for program development and personal research.
