About the Faculty
The over 330 faculty members of the College of Arts and Sciences come from throughout the world and represent a rich diversity of educational background and professional expertise. Most of the faculty in the College hold terminal degrees in their disciplines; in fact, over 90% of the faculty at ASU hold the doctorate or first professional degree in their disciplines--a statistic befitting a university consistently ranked as one of the best, and most efficient, comprehensive universities in the South.
Quality teaching and instruction has always been, and remains, the primary mission of the faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences. The honors and rewards of faculty in the College of Arts & Sciences provide compelling and convincing evidence of the faculty’s exceptional performance in the classroom.
In addition, Arts and Sciences faculty are productive scholars; for the 2006-2007 academic year, faculty reported over 400 publications, and presented over 650 papers at professional meetings.
