Position Title: Assistant Professor

The Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice at Appalachian
State University invites applications for a tenure-track nine-month
faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August
2008. Qualifications for this position include a Ph.D. in political
science at the time of appointment. The Department prefers
specialization in American political behavior, especially in one of the
following areas: public opinion, political socialization, media,
political psychology, or voting and elections. The ability to teach
introductory level courses in American Politics is also desired. The
successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach in the
Department's graduate programs in political science (MA), public
administration (MPA), and criminal justice (MSCJ). Responsibilities
also include student advisement and curriculum development, as well as an
active program of scholarship and participation in service activities.

Appalachian State University is a member institution of the
sixteen-campus University of North Carolina System, consistently ranks
among the top regional universities in the South and was named College
of the Year by Time magazine in 2001. Located in Boone, North
Carolina, the University has approximately 15,000 students, primarily in
bachelors and masters programs in both liberal arts and applied fields.
Appalachian has both a traditional residential campus and a variety of
