Application
form for "Do Unto Others..." Scholarship
The College Scholars program offers scholarships of a minimum
of $1,000 per year to entering freshmen and transfer students
who have expressed interest in a program of study within the College
of Arts and Sciences. Last year, 400 applications were received
for this scholarship. Awardees had an SAT average of 1345, ranging
from 1250 to 1440, and a grade point average of 3.89. Students must be planning to major in one of
the sixteen
departments within the College (Anthropology, Biology, Chemistry,
Computer Science, English, Foreign Languages & Literatures,
Geography & Planning, Geology, History, Interdisciplinary
Studies, Mathematical Sciences, Philosophy & Religion, Physics

and Sociology & Social Work).
The Scholarship Committee considers such factors as scholastic
aptitude, maturity, and quality of character which project a high
probability of academic excellence. Continued eligibility requires
that the student maintains a grade point average of 3.25 and majors
in one of the departments of the College. At the end of each academic
year, students continuing the scholarship will be required to
submit statements of academic plans for the following year. Scholarships
are available to freshmen and transfer students. An essay, two letters of reference and
an interview are required.
The deadline for applying for this scholarship is in early December
for the following year. Students who wish to be considered for
the scholarship should complete the scholarship application form
provided in the admissions packet or available online.
