Position Title: Assistant Professor/Associate Professor

The expanding Social Work Program in the Department of Sociology and Social Work at Appalachian State University invites applications for two tenure-track nine-month faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor and one tenure-track nine-month faculty position that may be appointed at the rank of Associate Professor, beginning August 2008. Qualifications for all three positions include a doctorate in Social Work or related discipline and a Master of Social Work degree from a CSWE accredited program. Two years of post social work education experience is desirable. Candidates who are ABD will be considered for the Assistant Professor positions, but all doctoral degree requirements must be met by September 15, 2008. The Social Work Program includes Bachelor and Master of Social Work degrees. One of the Assistant Professor positions involves serving in the field component of the social work program and applicants for that position should so indicate in their application. Instructional duties for all three positions include one or more areas of the BSW and MSW social work curricula, field practicum, student advisement, and curriculum development and may include on-line instruction and/or instruction at off-campus sites. In addition to instructional duties, faculty members are expected to maintain an active program of scholarship, participate in service activities, and be willing to seek and participate in extramural funding. Initial review of complete applications will begin December 10, 2007 and will continue until all three positions are filled.
